I met this family of three precious and oh-so-photogenic girls through Katie shortly after moving to Illinois, and it’s been a pleasure getting to know them! Recently, we met at Ewing Park (Jersey Road side) in Bloomington, IL, for a portrait mini-session. The family hadn’t made any portraits since before Ruby was born, so it was time!
They made my job easy:
Ruby, their youngest, is at the same fun age as Rawley. Like my boy (and all two-year-olds), it was a little more challenging to get her to sit still, but we managed! 🙂
I used a single speedlight in a 24″ sq. softbox for fill, since we had bright sunlight for most of the shoot. I set up my light camera-right; the sun was camera-left and behind the subjects-making a nice hair light. I removed some distracting tree-anchors and houses in the background in post.
This next shot is actually an outtake, but there is something striking about the way the light falls on Ruby’s eye; and it is such a sweet moment between mama and her youngest. 🙂 Aubrey (mom) is the most fantastic event-cake baker-decorator I know. If you need a cake, she’s your gal – let me know and I will put you in touch! Thanks for the opportunity to capture your beautiful family!
