This weekend marked the 2nd annual Arizona Winegrowers Festival at the Farm, and my 2nd year covering the event. This year, to kick off the festivities, AWGA hosted an industry awards banquet for Arizona winemakers at Quiessence restaurant on Friday night. Quiessence is situated in a cozy nook at the back of the Farm at South Mountain, and the entire place is just a dream for photographers.
This year, the Arizona Republic served as the objective third party responsible for the blind judging process prior to the event. On Friday night, with the help of AWGA Executive Director Rhonni Moffitt, the winning winemakers were presented with medals and trophies. Things got a little silly, and the presentation process soon turned into a knighting.
The evening was just gorgeous – perfect weather for sipping chilled wine in a garden setting.
Guests were treated a casual dinner and wine tasting, cocktail party style, at a variety of food and wine stations both inside and outside of the restaurant.
The dessert station was eye candy and a test of my willpower…yum! It reminded me of the fancy bakery I visited in Zurich!
