WHY SHOULD WE HIRE HBP VERSUS ANOTHER PHOTOGRAPHER?
Outstanding photography, breadth of experience, professionalism, technical precision, sharp images, attention to detail, collaborative nature, simplicity, and speed. Files are zipped and delivered within 2 days or sooner on request. No waiting for DVDs to ship or slow FTP downloads. I also provide additional exposure to all of my clients through blog posts, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and Linked In (unless you prefer otherwise; embargo periods are honored upon request).
WHAT TYPE OF FILE DO YOU SHOOT AND DELIVER?
Files are captured in RAW; images are delivered clients at 300 ppi / jpg format / sRGB color space (unless requested otherwise, in which case, additional fees may apply).
Commercial projects are estimated with no obligation upon request, and are based on time required on-location and in post-production, usage, level of difficulty, scope, type, number of images required, and other factors, including but not limited to expenses and sales tax. Total cost varies widely based on the specific nature of each project; all projects are negotiable based on each client’s budget and goals.
Once we’ve agree on the terms and pricing we’ll confirm the booking via a mutually signed contract.
HOW DO YOU DETERMINE THE COST OF A COMMERCIAL PROJECT?
Rates are driven by factors such as constantly emerging technology and software, time spent in post-production, wear and tear on expensive gear, and other considerations that are job-specific, such as:
- Is travel required?
- Does the project require multiple shoots in different locations/days?
- After the shoot, in what capacity will you use the images?
- Will the images be useful over a long period of time?
- Will the images be used in advertising or fund-raising?
- Does the project require more expertise or more sophisticated equipment?
- Does the project require more than one photographer?
- Do you require same-day delivery, exclusivity and/or buyout?
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?
Check payable to Holly Baumann Photography. The billing time frame may vary from project to project, based on your own billing cycle and/or the nature of the project.
WHAT IF WE AREN’T HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS?
The best way to avoid this is to make sure you send a representative to be present on-location so we can collaborate and trouble shoot together. If this isn’t possible, then my interpretation of the assignment is final. However, please know that I’ve never had an unhappy client or failed to deliver what was commissioned. If for some reason this happened, I would reshoot, refund, or compensate as needed. You have my guarantee.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET THE IMAGES?
2 days or less. Prompt image delivery is one of the distinctive aspects of HBP. If you have a shorter deadline, please communicate that at the time of booking and we will meet your deadline, with an additional fee for less than 24-hour turn-around.
IS USAGE RESTRICTED?
Negotiations begin with a non-transferable, non-exclusive license. Adjustments to this arrangement impact the total cost, but are always negotiable. If you require exclusivity, please communicate that during the estimate phase, and note that this will be reflected in your estimate. Unless an agreement for exclusivity is established prior to the beginning of work, HBP retains the right to license the images to other entities or individuals in the future. When in doubt about copyright and usage requirements, please ask.
License Transfer/Third Party Usage: If you are aware of other entities/individuals that would like to license images from your project prior to the shoot, we can write a multi-party contract, which is more cost effective for third parties than buying images as “stock” afterwards. However, if such a contract isn’t in place, images are available as stock after work is complete at any time, unless the images are exclusive.
WHO OWNS THE IMAGES?
HBP always prefers to retain copyright ownership and does not relinquish copyright except under very specific circumstances (such as editorial work). HBP will honor exceptions to this policy when they are clearly stated in the contract prior to the shoot.
WILL MY IMAGES BE ONLINE?
Yes, for 90 days in a private gallery with a password is included for all types of clients. You get to decide who gets to see them and who does not by sharing your password with whomever you choose. Most commercial clients do not require prints, but if you do, you may order them from your online gallery. I can only guarantee print quality from my printer.
WHAT BACKUP PROCEDURES DO YOU USE?
My work is backed up three times – on two external hard drives stored separately, and on our website in full resolution. Your photos are extremely safe. If your digital files are lost or destroyed or your computers crash, I can replace them for a small fee. Please review my backup procedures if you’d like more information.
